Football career (AFL/VFL) - retired
After his time within the AFL system at the Hawthorn Football Club (2011-2016), Alex headed to the Collingwood Football Club in the VFL competition for a new start and to continue to develop his craft as a football player within the Collingwood VFL midfield. However Alex's career was cut short in 2017 due to a knee injury and he turned his attention towards contributing to the team in a development coaching/mentor capacity as he sought to stay involved and take different perspectives on the game.
Within his role for Collingwood VFL, Alex in addition took up an opportunity to be apart of the AFL program as the Collingwood Runner for the 2018 season. Alex continued to develop and improve on the following traits & attributes he was a representative of Collingwood Football Club as he attempted to continue his footballing journey:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Leadership
- Decision Making
- Strategic Thinking & Organisational Skills
*Alex suffered another ACL injury at the end of the 2019 VFL Football Season. After this mishap Alex decided to retire from the sport to focus on other aspects of his life. He hopes that people will continue to find inspiration through the overall career he was able to achieve during his time in the AFL and VFL system.
